German Notgeld Vol 12 The Lasting Value of the German Inflation Notgeld 1923/1924 by Verlag. The outbreak of the First World War was accompanied by a lack of small coins owing to the fact that they were often made of high quality materials (gold, silver, etc.) that they wanted to hoard for themselves. This deficiency tried to counteract countries, communities, cities and companies by circulating emergency money. Since a tremendous amount of such money went into circulation until 1923, Dr. Ing. Arnold Keller - the author of the first catalogs of German emergency money - a classification before, which still serves as a classification aid. Although there had been a slight inflation since the war, from 1922 the decline in value of the Reichsmark continued to progress. In 1923 she continued to lose purchasing power until nominal values rose to infinity during hyperinflation. In order to stop this descent, one gave out emergency money, which was stable by its equivalent value, thus could not lose value. These were e.g. Gold or US dollars, but also wood, forest or rye, for example. In the present book this value-stable emergency money is to be presented and cataloged for the first time. This closes another gap and the series Deutsches Notgeld can be further completed. This catalog is a must for every collector of German banknotes and interested laymen. Softcover, 608 pages.
